One of our favorite places to go to escape the Arizona heat is Laguna Beach. Located in Southern California, It offers a picturesque coastal getaway with beautiful beaches, art galleries, outdoor activities, and excellent dining options. It is located between Los Angeles and San Diego, making a day trip to either quite easy.

For art lovers, Laguna Beach is a haven. The town boasts a thriving arts scene, with numerous galleries and studios showcasing works by local and internationally renowned artists. A visit to the Laguna Art Museum is a must to explore the region's rich artistic heritage. Additionally, the town's many art festivals, such as the Pageant of the Masters and the Sawdust Art Festival, provide immersive experiences that blend art, culture, and entertainment.

As you approach the beach, be prepared for a workout because, contrary to its name, you'll descend approximately 200 steep and uneven steps to reach the shoreline. However, the effort is well worth it. The moment you set foot on the golden sands and take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, you'll understand why this place is so special.

The tide pools and sea caves that dot the coastline add an element of exploration and wonder, making it perfect for both solo travelers and families.

However, one thing to keep in mind is that this beach can get crowded on weekends and during the summer season. You will also want to check the tide. It is better to visit during low tide as the beach is 90 percent covered during high tide. Also, pack essentials like water and snacks since there aren't many amenities available on-site.

The Laguna Beach Trolley is a true gem for both residents and visitors to this picturesque coastal town. It offers free service without the hassle of parking. The Laguna Beach Trolley typically operates seasonally during the summer months, starting around June and running through Labor Day weekend in September. There is a non-summer route that operates from September 5, 2023, to June 28, 20224. However, the schedule may vary from year to year.

During peak times, trolleys often run frequently, typically every 20-30 minutes, ensuring that passengers can easily hop on and off at their desired locations. The trolley usually offers several routes that cover popular destinations within Laguna Beach. These routes include stops at beaches, downtown areas, art galleries, shopping districts, and other attractions.

When you enter the art deco style decor will take back in time. Our dinners were amazing as was the intimate experience created by the saxophonist that played the evening we were there. The music program features exceptional artists that perform live jazz, R & B, blues, and special performances.

The menu has a variety of options of appetizers such as Tuna Tartare and Lamb Lollipops. There are a few salads to choose from including a mediterranean salad with we found to be very good. The main courses included a selection of fish, beef, chicken and venison, also a pasta dish. To accompany your main dish there are an assortment of side dishes such as Green Beans, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Charred Broccoli and Pan Roasted Mushrooms. Nicks Laguna Beach is one of our favorite restaurants to grab a quick bite to eat. It is often quite busy. But if you are lucky, you can grab a seat at the bar. The warm wood accents, cozy booths, and open kitchen create an inviting and comfortable setting for a memorable meal.

Nick's menu is a culinary journey that highlights the best of California cuisine. The emphasis on locally-sourced, farm-fresh ingredients is evident in every dish. During our most recent visit I ordered the Bistro Plate which included a Petite Filet Mignon, topped with steak butter served on garlic toast, petite bistro salad, and a cup of the daily soup. Everything was delicious!

Mario's is renowned for its delicious deli creations. The menu boasts a variety of mouthwatering options, from classic Italian subs to unique and inventive combinations. The portions are generous, and the ingredients are always fresh, resulting in sandwiches that are satisfying and packed with flavor.

Speaking of sandwiches, Mario’s is known for its Italian Sub, Smash Burger, and Pastrami Sandwich. On my most recent visit I had the Pastrami Sandwich and I was not disappointed. I have to highly recommend this deli if you are looking for a scrumptious sandwich!

The service at Mario's is friendly and personable, reflecting the restaurant's neighborhood vibe. The staff is happy to offer recommendations ensuring that you get exactly what you crave.

The Crystal Cove Shake Shack is a great spot for a classic American burger and shake experience. Located just off the Coast Highway within the stunning Crystal Cove State Park in Newport Beach, it perfectly complements a day at the beach.

The Shake Shack offers high-quality burgers, hot dogs, crinkle-cut fries, and a selection of delicious shakes. The burgers are juicy, the hot dogs are flavorful, and the fries are crispy – all the elements of a satisfying comfort food meal.

The standout feature is the shakes. From classic flavors like chocolate and vanilla to more adventurous creations, they are rich, creamy, and indulgent, making for the perfect beachside treat.

The Beachcomber Restaurant at Crystal Cove is a quintessential dining experience that combines exquisite cuisine, stunning oceanfront views, and a unique sense of history. Nestled within the Crystal Cove State Park, this restaurant is a true hidden gem.

The atmosphere at The Beachcomber is nothing short of enchanting. Set against the backdrop of historic beachfront cottages, the restaurant offers a charming and laid-back ambiance. Whether you choose to dine on the breezy outdoor patio or in the cozy indoor dining room, you're treated to panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.

Most recently I had an amazing breakfast here. If you do not have reservations, make sure you arrive early as The Beachcomber is a favorite for many. You can walk on the beach while waiting for your table. If you are here during the day they also offer beach chairs for rent.

They also offer Fire Pit Rentals. There are three different packages. The sunset package includes a 3 hour fire pit rental, along with 4 chairs, 4 beverages and 4 smores. While I have not done this, it is something I look forward to doing my next visit to this area.

If you are looking for a place to grab coffee and breakfast Urth Caffe in Laguna is the place! Loved by both locals and visitors alike you will find the ambiance at Urth Caffé both chic and cozy.
